A Construction Update

June 17, 2015Angela KoehnNews

Well it would appear from the length of time since my last post that I had forgotten how to do it, or maybe you are thinking the whole project is done! Well no, not quite, but it is getting close! I did a quick tour just a bit ago and it is amazing what all has been accomplished in just the last few days!

Construction Update on exterior.Construction Update on our project.

Starting outside, the new parking lot to the west has been poured, as well as a sidewalk which goes completely around the new addition. Work has also begun on the landscaping between the wings and to the north.

Construction Update on interior.

Almost all interior and exterior doors have been hung, with most of the interior door trim also installed. Cabinetry, including the new nourishment bar and salad bar, desks, linen cupboards, etc. are in place. A tan, linen-look, vinyl wall protector/covering has been installed on the bottom half of the 3 wing hallways, and they are working on that in the connecting hallway this morning. Handrails have been put up on the first two wings and they are also in the process of installing them on the connecting hall. All suspended ceilings are in place. Electricians are putting up the hanging light fixtures in the new dining room.

Finishing touches.

Living and dining furniture are being chosen. What seems like thousands of small details are being checked off one by one. It is an exciting time and we are really looking forward to using the new areas, but it also come with challenges as we try to anticipate how we will move, staffing and workload changes, learning to use new equipment, etc. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we journey down this learning curve!
