An Interesting Week at Moundridge Manor!
It seems like this week has been full of many interesting things!! First of all on Monday our Annual State Survey was completed and the state surveyors left us with the GOOD NEWS that they found ‘O’ deficiencies!!! So that was great news for all Manor staff and residents to know that we are privileged to work and live in such a WONDERFUL PLACE! On Tuesday afternoon we celebrated the National Dog Days of Summer Begin with an activity under the carport – the day was warm but with a nice breeze it was very comfortable! Various staff members and friends brought their dogs for the residents to enjoy – Linda Ensz and ‘Geo’ and Trula’s dog ‘Peggy’ which are both Bichon Frise’s and look nearly identical. Sharla and ‘Abby’ – a part Pomeranian puppy, Beth and ‘Bailey’ – a larger part Husky and Sharon and her beagle all made their rounds of visiting the residents. Two volunteers from Lifetime Animal Placement & Protection (LAPP), Dondalea & Ashley Jordan, brought two poodles, Muffy and Boomer. The grey poodle, Boomer, especially loved to sit on the residents laps and be petted! Dondalea sent me a text that evening stating “Ashley and I enjoyed our day VERY much. I wish we could have stayed longer. Ashley is 14 years old and cannot quit talking about our day. She has never got to experience something like this event. We enjoyed all the residents very much! THANK YOU!” Also, this week we have enjoyed lots of fresh garden produce on different days – fresh cucumber salad on Tuesday, fresh peaches over ice cream on Wednesday, fresh peach pie on Thursday and fresh cantaloupe and corn-on-the-cob on Friday!! Many thanks to those contributing – to Suellen Johnson for the cucumbers, Andy Shetler for the peaches and cantaloupe and to Arden Penner for the corn! It was all TOPS!
