Baby & Little People’s Parade!
On a beautiful afternoon on the last day of September we enjoyed our scheduled Baby & Little People’s Parade! Joining us were the 1st & 2nd grades from the Plainview Christian School at Inman. As always Miss Lucy’s class is such a joy to join us for an activity! The Manor residents lined the carport on both sides soaking up one of those rare late September days where the weather was just about perfect – warm and partly cloudy with a light breeze. First we let the schoolchildren make numerous rounds in front of the residents riding their skateboards or rollerblades – of course, we were amazed at their agility and unending energy!! Then while they paused on one side the babies and toddlers waiting ‘in the wings’ took their turn spreading sunshine around to the residents eagerly waiting their turn to smile and comment about them! Several employees brought their babies and toddlers and even some of the grandma’s grandchildren showed up! A number of residents grandchildren were here, also! Several of the little girls even had a wagon to ride in! After the parade the schoolchildren went around and shook hands with all of the residents – I heard one of the men ask the girls “So your name is Susie?” and of course, she giggled and said “No!”. Then, he said “So your name is Betty?” and of course, she giggled again and said “No!” – “Well”, he said, “You’ll have to tell me what it is then!”. Before the children left they sang several school songs and enjoyed some ‘jungle animal crackers’ and lemonade before they returned to school. Someone commented later around supper time that some of the residents were still talking about the parade!
