Family Picnic and State Survey Results
Last Friday, September 5, was our 15th annual Family Picnic & Auction; it is a day that is looked forward to all year by many of our residents. We kept an apprehensive eye on the weather forecast for days before the event, fearful lest it rain and spoil the evening. Thankfully, despite dire predictions the day before of 80% chance of rain, the evening turned out to be dry, although a little on the cool side. Family members came from far and near to enjoy a meal of grilled hamburgers, baked beans, fruit salad, chips, and ice cream sandwiches. The Lone Tree youth group was on hand to help us serve the crowd of almost 500. Later in the evening we had an auction of donated items from most of our supporting congregations, along with several donations from generous individuals. Harry Brandt was our auctioneer, and he did a fine job. After the auction, we enjoyed beautiful quartet singing by Ty Johnson, Chris Ratzlaff, Bryce Koehn, and Chad Koehn. Our thanks goes to the Lone Tree youth and youth leaders, the quartet, Harry Brandt, Moundridge Manor Board members, and all the volunteers for making it a success. A big thank you also to all of the family members that took the time to come out and enjoy the evening with us!
On a completely different topic, State Surveyors walked in to begin their annual survey last Wednesday morning. As usual, it was completely unexpected, and if you’ve read the above paragraph, you may also realize it came in the middle of what was already a very busy week 🙂 The week of Family Picnic is usually filled with hustle and bustle, many visitors, auction items and extra supplies stuffed into every spare corner, and numerous other preparations for the big night. Despite all of this, the survey went on and the survey team finished up yesterday afternoon. We anxiously awaited the results…. and the verdict was ZERO DEFICIENCYS! This lovely outcome just reafirms what a great staff we have; you don’t get a deficiency-free survey two years in a row without effort. Congratulations team!
