Moundridge Manor Garden Club
The Moundridge Manor Garden Club has been enjoying gathering together for Garden Club meetings in the spring since 2007 – this is our 8th year! Looking back through some of the schedules and notes there have been many interesting and diverse activities we have enjoyed!! A number of years ago Royce in Maintenance built a nice raised bed planter for the Courtyard which grows a bounty of early spring veggies – we have picked two big tubs of lettuce already this spring! And the green onions have done very well along with some radishes. Now there are several ‘Sweet Slice’ cucumbers and a grape tomato plant growing in there – also, the two potato bags grew lush potato plants and at our Garden Club meeting on Wednesday, June 11, we tried digging potatoes out from under the plants and harvested 18 nice new potatoes! I wonder how many people those will feed?? Elizabeth shared that one year as a girl they harvested 100 bushels of potatoes! The weather was absolutely gorgeous Wednesday morning with temps in the middle 70’s, sunny skies and light winds! There was 22 of us gathered on the patio soaking up the gorgeous morning! We reminisced about the unpredictable weather of this spring with its many cold days, then many windy days and now ample rainfall – some places have recorded up to 5 or more inches in the last several weeks! We are looking forward to our annual Garden Party in the Courtyard on June 25 at 10:00 a.m. We’ll see if the weather cooperates!!
