More Progress
This morning there was a flurry of excitement as a huge generator arrived by truck and flatbed trailer. Interested residents and employees watched out the west dining room windows while a big crane slowly moved it off of the trailer and onto a concrete pad to the south of the new entrance. One of the residents gave his piece of advice “Don’t get underneath that thing, those ropes could snap at any time! I know, I used to operate a crane.”
Later this afternoon, I ventured out to see what was happening in the new addition. I am happy to report that the whole east wing of resident rooms has been painted! I talked to one of the men doing the painting, Merle Koehn, and he informed me that by noon tomorrow the whole west wing would also be painted! On the east wing, one of the electricians was finishing up the wall outlets and screwing on the outlet covers. Next step – putting on the wood trim.
Last week the concrete and pumper trucks were here. The boom was extended over the building and into the new courtyard beside the dining room. They poured concrete under the covered patio and also made a neat curving sidewalk. There also have been some big rough stones delivered to the courtyard; they will be used for the water feature that is being planned as part of the landscaping! Well, that’s all for now!
